With the recent rain out at the Clinton County Motor Speedway on Friday September 8th the regular racing season for the Laurel Highlands Sprint Car Series comes to a close for 2017. There is one more race at Clinton County for the IMCA Race Savers this coming Friday, a co-sanctioned event with the Pa Sprint Series and also is the final points race for the Summer Showdown. Due to the rain out this past Friday Laurel Highlands is pleased to crown Scott Lutz of Jonestown, Pa. the 2017 Summer Showdown Champion, his point lead is sufficient that no matter what happens this Friday he will retain his lead. Positions 2 through 4 are fairly secure for Ryan Lynn, Reed Thompson and Kyle Ganoe and other positions are still up for grabs especially the remainder of the top ten point drivers. There will be a get together probably in November to hand out trophies to the top ten point drivers and a date, time and location will be announced as soon as details are finalized.
