The Laurel Highlands Sprint Car Series officially concluded the 2018 racing season on Saturday November 17th at Hoss’ Steak and Sea House in Duncansville with the awards banquet for the top 10 Summer Showdown drivers as well as other awards and plaques. A list of all recipients will appear after the Thanksgiving holiday. Another great crowd attended the affair with over 60 plus people on hand which is a lot for our growing region. A huge thank you to everyone who made the journey to participate as it always good to see everyone, share memories and have some laughs. It was a pleasure to welcome western Pa. 410 sprint car standout and racing veteran, Carl Bowser to speak to those in attendance, he also brought his wife along to share in the memory. A humble message was given as to how Carl has progressed in the sport to where he is today, hopefully it serves as an inspiration to all drivers. Also, Carl was a participant in our first ever Race Saver event at the Dog Hollow Speedway in October of 2011 when he drove the Precise Racing Products #1. Last year we welcomed former Race Saver driver Rob Mellott to speak to the group and share his memories of his sprint car days. Also stopping by for a quick visit and giving some encouraging words was Dog Hollow Speedway promoter, Dan Savino, it was good to see him and we thank him for thinking of the LHSS and coming in to say hello. The Precise Racing Products of Sarver, Pa. is deserving of a HUGE thank you for all the nice products and gifts they sent along to be given away to our drivers it was truly appreciated and helps to show our region is gaining some respect in the racing community. It is a fair observation that the 2018 racing season, despite all the rain outs, was a very successful year for our group and we all are looking forward to the 2019 season. Keep in mind that after the holidays and the beginning of the new year we will announce the plans and location of our annual meeting. It is recommended that all of those planning to race with us next year attend as there will be topics of interest to discuss to get everyone on board and up to speed for a new year. If you happen to be a new driver or a “rookie” driver it is imperative and in your best interest to attend the meeting so we can meet you and talk with you. In the meantime if any questions arise in regards to anything Race Saver feel free to contact Race Director, Rob Bartchy or if engine related and Hard Card related contact Engine Tech Director, Greg Bartchy. On behalf of the Laurel Highlands Sprint Car Series we want to wish all of our drivers, their families and crews, the track promoters and staff and all of the racing fans a HAPPY and SAFE THANKSGIVING holiday. And a special shout out to all those serving in the military who cannot be home with their family and friends for the holiday.
